The Midlands’ first public sector commercial planning, development and environmental consultancy has been appointed as the approved building inspector for one of the biggest current construction projects in Telford.
apT will provide the expert authority for a six deck multi storey car park being built on land adjacent to Telford Ice Rink.
The 300-space facility is being built as a wider hotel and restaurant development by the Southwater Event Group, which runs the Telford International Centre.
As the approved inspectors for the £4million build, apT will ensure it meets all the relevant building regulations from general construction compliance to fire safety and disabled access ramps before it can be signed off for completion, which is expected in early summer.
Valerie Hulme, Group Manager for apT, said: “We are very pleased to be working on this prestigious building project that will increase the parking space available for visitors to the Telford International Centre and other visitors to the town.
“Our role is to ensure the health and safety for people who will be using this car park and our inspectors will be making regular visits throughout the construction to ensure that the stringent regulations that apply are being met.
“As an organisation, we are used to dealing with contractors at all levels and will be applying our wealth of experience in the sector to this build.”
apT, which is part of Telford & Wrekin Council, works with everyone from home owners through to residential and commercial developers, land agents, other Local Authorities and everything in-between.
Services include professional help and guidance for planning, both preparing and submitting planning applications, the preparation of policy and support promoting sites in highway design and adoptions and building regulations.
It also offers more specialist consultancy for built heritage conservation, urban design, ecological conservation, strategic housing and recreational specialists. For more information, go to www.apt-group.co.uk.
