Businesses operating in Shropshire’s construction industry are being invited to sign up to a free workshop to get expert advice on how to be more energy efficient.

The free session in Telford on April 12 will feature expert advice on ways to reduce energy costs as well as mitigate environmental effects.

Caplor Energy will provide advice and guidance on the benefits of installing renewable energy systems including solar PV and renewable heating.

EcoSave UK will focus on LED lighting, energy procurement, water reviews and more and how save on energy costs as well advising on grant funding of up to 40 per cent for new projects.

The team from the University of Wolverhampton – BECCI Built Environment Climate Change Innovations project will highlight the importance of air tightness within the building fabric and how this impacts on the energy costs for buildings.

The workshop will run from 4pm to 5.15pm at TSI Packing in Halesfield 21. Delegates will be able to tour TSI’s LED lighting and biomass boiler installation after the event.

Gareth Emberton, Chairman of Shropshire Constructing Excellence, said the event was vital for the county’s network of construction and supply chain businesses.

“This short session will help organisations gain some practical knowledge with plenty of time to get specific advice about your own business needs along with information on grants available.

“It will give an excellent grounding to be able to introduce energy saving initiatives in your own workplace as well as construction projects.”
